This idea started with the Iman club then it was adopted by the Dawa club. When the Dawa Club was flooded with other ideas, Iman club readopted their own idea. This helps sponsor orphans, and their siblings as well. When you donate money to the orphan project you are not only helping the orphans but their families as well. And you will get more Ajar (hasanat) when you donate. So please be generous with your donations.
Curent news on the orphan project:
- The Tenth Grade Girls were the first class to sponsor an orphan, Alhamdullilah!
- Also, the male teachers have pledged to do 350 push-ups to encourage and motivate the student body.
- The eleventh grade girls have 2 orphans sponsored and the male staff have pledged to sponsor one.
The Pancake breakfast is an event that rewards the hard work of our students. The event took place on January 29th from 8:30AM to 9AM. This breakfast was a success. The delicious meal was for the students, by the students.
Healthy Food Drive
The Healthy food drive is just an activity that stocks up the Zakat Foundation's Chicago Community Center with healthy foods. You can join by reaching out to the members of the Healthy Food Group and donating the food that will be if not already listed. You can become a food pantry volunteer by donating food or you could encourage the local youth in get involved.
Examples of food items (Please no meats or dairy):
- 100% fruit juice
- Dried Fruit
- Canned fruit, no sugar added
- No sugar added applesauce
- Low sodium or "no salt added" canned vegetables
- Low sodium pasta sauces
- Brown or wild rice
- Peanut butter
- Whole grain/bran cereals
- Whole grain pasta or noodles
- Herbs and spices
- Oils (olive, canola, peanut, flax-seed)
- Low fat all purpose mixes
- Plain or low-sugar oatmeal
Walk-a-Thon for Libya!
Students attended a Free Libya Walk-a-Thon to show their support to the Libyan revolutionists and support for Libya's freedom from Gaddhafi's regime.

Talent show is a show where you can show your inner skill. You can goof off, sing, dance, do anything school and Islamically appropriate. Or you could be in the audience and watch them slip, fall, and mess up.
All Girls Talent Show!
Iman Club hosted an All Girls Talent Show on March 16, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The event took place in the North Cafeteria at Universal School. Tickets were sold for $13 before March 16 and $18 at the door of the event. All proceeds were donated for the Somalia cause, as well as for Turkey.
Costume was decided as the theme of the event, with the theme colors being purple, black and white. Prizes were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for displaying the most talent.
The outcome was great, as many students attended and the event was a success!
Another small portion of students that choose to go to the animal shelter are able to go to take care of the animals. They will feed them, take care of them, and learn responsibility. They are able to meet pets and play or have fun with them. They were also having so much fun and keeping the kids happy they forgot to take real pictures.
Soup Kitchen is a club activity where various members of Iman Club volunteer to help the less fortunate in there time of need through nutritious meals hosted by communities willing to help. These pictures below display some of the work done by volunteers.
Over the past few years, Universal School IMAN Club has hosted Universal talent show . This is an activity available to students in order to showcase their talents and abilities. The best three acts are then voted by the alumni judges, and money will be awarded to winners who place first, second, or third. First place prize: $100.00, second place prize: $75.00, and third place prize: $50.00. This event has always proved an extraordinary success and the proceeds from the event go towards aiding muslim refugees, the orphans, and the needy.
